Silicon Valley has come under fire in recent months for its lack of diversity. Now tech companies and investors are beginning to put up more money to fix it.
Intel Capital, the investment arm of the technology corporation, announced Tuesday that it will invest $125 million in startups run by women and underrepresented minorities in an effort to continue laying the groundwork for a more diverse workforce in the technology industry.
The announcement comes at a time when big and small technology companies are under greater scrutiny to prove they can innovate on their hiring practices as much as on their products.
